B Powell

Bonnie Powell is an experienced educator and occasional teacher with the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), specializing in music and library sciences. She began her career at the Peel District School Board, where she worked as a classroom teacher and music specialist before moving to the TDSB.

Bonnie holds a degree from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music, focusing on Vocal and Choral Music, and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). She has also completed Level 2 training in Kodály, Orff methodologies, and African Drumming at the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Bonnie has trained with renowned artists, including Dame Cleo Laine and Jean MacPhail, and is actively involved in the musical community as a soprano in the choir at the Church of the Messiah in Toronto.

Throughout her teaching career, Bonnie has worked to create inclusive learning environments for diverse learners, including those with special needs. She has collaborated with fellow educators to produce many school concerts and musical productions, fostering a strong sense of community among students and families. Her dedication to music education enhances the learning experience for her students and promotes the importance of the music in education. Her students have excelled in classroom and extra curricular singing and choir, recorder, African drumming and dance workshops and Orff connected to children’s literature.
